Silvervingen was designed by the legendary Tore Holm, four-time Olympic medallist and the sailor behind some of the most successful 6-metre racing yachts in the world. She was built in 1939 by Helmer Gustavsson at Hangersetbsarye.
She has recently undergone an extremely thorough seven-year rebuild programme involving countless hours of painstaking hard work, thought and love. Following this restoration she is in absolutely immaculate condition and a real credit to her restoration team.
In 2021/2022, she received upgrades to her thoroughbred racing specifications and received a comprehensive refit, which included a structurally reinforced titanium skeleton frame and internal frames for winches, enabling her to be sailed confidently with the forces generated by modern rig and sail materials. Upgraded electronics and monitors provide information on sail performance which can also be read on the Protector coach-boat.
She trained and raced throughout the 2023 season, where she demonstrated her thoroughbred status. She is a fitting tribute to her designer, the great Tore Holm.
Always at the front of the fleet, Silveringen won many races and collected awards along the way, including the “Concours d’Elegance” award for the standout beautiful boat (jointly with Abu!) at the Hamble Classic Week regatta.
